PHAIDON (PATRIKALAKIS) (1935)
Born at Drama, Phaidon (Patrikalakis) studied initially
at the Vakalo School in Athens and later (1960-1967) continued at the
Académie
Julian, the Académie
du Feu and the École
de Dessin Appliqué a la Mode Historique, in
Paris. He presented his first one-man exhibition in Paris (1961),
although he participated to group shows already since 1960, for other
to follow later in Greece and abroad. He has been stage scenery
and costume designer for a series of theater performances both in
Greece and abroad. He has also published three albums with his
work ("Aghion Oros - Kythnos", "Amorgos" and "Ia") and has written a
number of books. He is engaged in sculpture as well.
Anthropocentric with an intense naive character his work may be
considered being in the limits of abstract expressionism and surrealism
with a distinct personal style. He lives and works in Athens.
