STAVROS IOANNOU (1945)
Born in Athens, Stavros Ioannou studied
painting with Yannis Moralis at the School of Fine Arts, of which he
graduated in 1976. That same year he had his first
one-man exhibition in Athens. He has also participated in a
series of group shows in Athens and abroad. He has been awarded
with the 1st Prize for Painting of the House of Arts and Letters (1979)
and with a distinction at the Balkan Plastic Arts Exhibition in
Bucharest (1980). His work belongs to the abstract
expressionism and he is considered as the most authoritative
representative of the youngest generation of Greek
expressionists. He lives and works in Athens and Aegina.
