MICHALIS MAKROULAKIS (1940)
Born at Hermoupolis on the Island of
Syros, Michalis Makroulakis settled in Athens (1957) where he studied
at the Athenian Technological Institute (1958-1964) stage scenery and
costume design with Spiros Vassiliou, Tassos, Costas Plakotaris,
Antonis Polykandriotis a.o., painting with Yannis Tsarouchis and design
with Thanassis Apartis. From
1963 to 1966 he worked as stage scenery designer in
several theatres in Athens. In 1971 he settled in Teheran (Iran),
where he stayed until 1978. He had his first
one-man exhibition in Athens (1969).
Other solo and group shows followed in Greece and abroad.
His work belongs to the area of hyperrealism. He lives and works
in Athens.
