  GIORGOS MARGARITIS (1963)

Born in Kastanea at Konitsa, Giorgos Margaritis studied painting at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1981-1987) with Ilias Dekoulakos.  He then followed lessons in hagiography with Constantine Xynopoulos and in sculpture with Giorgos Nikolaidis and Thimios Panourgias.  He had his first solo exhibition at Agrinion (1995).  However, he has participated to group exhibitions already since 1993.  Other one-man and group shows followed in Greece.  He teaches in the High School.  His work is a combination of expressionism and Byzantine writing.  He lives and works in Athens.
