  TRANTAFYLLOS PATRASKIDIS (1946)

Born at Drama, Triantafyllos Patraskidis studied at the School of Fine Arts, painting with Nicos Nicolaou and Yannis Moralis (1964-1969) and mosaics with Elli Voila (1967-1969).  He continued his studies at the École des Beaux Arts, Paris (1972-1979) in painting with Gustave Singier, in mosaics with Riccardo Licata and in lithography with Hubert Haddad.  He had his first solo exhibition in Athens (1981), but had already participated to group shows since 1969.  Other one-man and group exhibitions followed both in Greece and abroad.  Curator at the Preparatory Workshop of the School of Fine Arts since 1982, he was elected professor in 1984.  He has been also engaged in sculpture and mosaics, as well as sound expression.  In 1989 he worked out artistically the Greek postage stamp issue "Greece - Land of the Olympic Games".  His work being clearly expressionist it is almost exclusively dominated by the human figure. He is the husband of painter Magda Levendakou. He lives and works in Athens.
