  ANTONIS POLITAKIS (1948)

Born at Keratsini, Antonis Politakis studied painting at the École de Paris with Jean Feugereux and stage scenery at the open workshops of Covent Garden in London.  At the same time, he took lessons in encaustic and Byzantine hagiography at Mount Athos and concluded his art education in Athens with Jenny Papadaki and Marina Lambraki Plaka (1975-1982).  He had his first solo exhibition in Athens (1981), but had already shown his work in group exhibitions since 1978.  Other one-man and group shows followed both in Greece and abroad.  He is the founder of the Artistic Group "Kyklos" [Circle] and has created and taught atthe painting workshop of the Municipality of Keratsini (1981-1990).  He is also engaged in stage scenery, art journalism, book illustration etc. and has been the producer of an art broadcasting for the radio.  His work belongs to the abstract expressionism.  He lives and works in Piraeus.
