  ARISTOTELIS SOLOUNIAS (1939-2009)

Born in Athens, Aristotelis Solounias studied at the College of Art at Cornell University, U.S.A. (Bachelor 1962 και Masters 1964).  He had his first one-man show in New York (1964).  Other solo and group exhibitions followed in Greece and abroad. Since 1957 he was also engaged with sculpture, while being active in architecture and stage scenery too.  In 1972 he founded the Pythagorean Academy of Fine Arts at Pythagorion in the Island of Samos.  A combination of descriptive and abstract painting, his work produces a distinct cubic style on its figures.  Aristotelis Solounias passed away in Athens (2009).
