  YIORGOS STATHOPOULOS (1944)

Born at Prostova in Trichonida, Yiorgos Stathopoulos studied painting and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts, Athens, with Yannis Moralis, Nicos Nicolaou, Yannis Pappas and Dimitris Kalamaras (1966-1971)He had his first one-man show in Athens (1970).  Other solo and group exhibitions followed in Greece and abroad.  He has also illustrated a series of books, phonographic disk front pages and posters.  His work is enlisted in the area of Greekness and combines surrealist and expressionist elements in a naive writing.  He lives and works in Athens.
