OPY
ZOUNI (SARPAKI) (1941-2008)
Born in Cairo (Egypt),
Opy Zouni (Sarpaki) studied there painting at the Zorian Workshop
(1959-1962), ceramics at the American College (1960-1962) and
photography (1959-1960).
In 1963 she
settled permanently in Athens, where she continued her studies at the
School of Fine Arts, initially in painting with Yannis Moralis
(1963-1968), then in ceramics (1963-1965) and later in stage scenery
and decoration (1967-1969).
She had her first solo
exhibition in Cairo (1962).
Other one-woman and group shows followed in Greece and abroad,
including the Biennales of Sao Paolo, Alexandria a.o.
She has given a distinct personal style to her painting, a
characteristic abstract geometry work. Opy
Zouni (Sarpaki) passed away in Athens (2008).
