ART EXHIBITION "CONTEMPORARY GREEK PAINTING: THE CANGELARIS COLLECTION" PSYCHICO 2008-2009 The art exhibition "Contemporary Greek Painting: The Cangelaris Collection" was inaugurated on October 2008 by the mayor of Psychico Irene Katsarou and the director of the Psychico Municipal Picture Gallery Eliza Gerolimatou, curator of the exhibition, in the presence of art critics, journalists and many art lovers.The exhibition was displayed at the rooms of the Psychico Municipal Picture Gallery and remained open for the public until January 2009. Thirty one paintings of different size from an equal number of renown Greek artists were shown: Chronis Botsoglou, Constantin Byzantios, Christos Caras, Achilles Droungas, Nicos Engonopoulos, Alecos Fassianos, Markellos Galanos, Yannis Grammatikopoulos, Nicolaos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Michalis Katzourakis, Irene Matiatou-Facon, Lisa Merlin-Vassilatou, Dimitris Mitaras, Yannis Moralis, Nicos Nicolaou, Costas Paniaras, Persa (Cangelaris-Bergerat), Jeanne Persaki, Paris Prekas, Yannis Psychopedis, Pavlos Samios, Dimos Skoulakis, Aristotelis Solounias, Sotiris Sorongas, Yannis Spiropoulos, Panayotis Tetsis, Peris Thalassinos, Costas Tsoclis, Maria Yannakaki, Apostolos Yayannos and Petros Zoumboulakis. A successful education program for children was available during the exhibition and many classes from kindergarten to primary and high school levels attended with active participation. The exhibition was kindly sponsored by the Greek Organization of Football Prognostics (O.P.A.P.) and the Psychico Municipal Beneficial Enterprise (DI.K.E.PS.).
