Born in London U.K., John Christoforou entered the School of Fine Arts, Athens, in 1935 where for a short time he took lessons in painting.  In 1938 he returned to England where, after the war, he concentrated himself entirely in painting.  He had his first one-man exhibition in London (1949).  Other followed both in London and elsewhere.  In 1965 he was awarded in London with the International Union of Art Critics Award.  He is considered as one of the forerunners of the new objectivity.  Since 1956 he lived and worked in Paris.  John Christoforou passed away in Paris (2014).
