  GIORGOS GOLFINOS (1948-2015)

Born at Velo (Corinthia), Giorgos Golfinos studied painting and scenography at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1975-1980) with Yannis Moralis and Vassilis Vassiliadis and continued his studies in Paris at the École des Beaux Arts with Leonardo Cremonini, Jacques Lagrange and Abraam Pingas (1981-1984).  He had his first one-man exhibition in Athens (1980).  Other solo and group shows followed in Greece and abroad.  Since 1998 he was professor and since 2005 president of the pictorial and applied arts section of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Thessalonica.  Between expressionism and objectivity, his work is supplemented by solid geometric symbolisms.  Giorgos Golfinos passed away in Athens (2015).
