YANNIS MESSINIS (1960)

Born at Gargaliani in Messinia (Peloponnese), Yannis Messinis studied painting at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1981-1986) with Ilias Dekoulakos and etching (1986-1990) with Thanassis Exarchopoulos.  Concurrently, he took lessons in painting at the Royal College of Art, London (1985), with Peter de Francia.  He had his first one-man exhibition in Athens (1990).  However, he had participated to group shows already since 1981.  Other solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad followed as well.  His work is mainly expressionist.  He lives and works in Athens.
