  SOTIRIS SORONGAS (1936)

Born in Athens, Sotiris Sorongas studied at the School of Fine Arts (1957-1961), painting with Yannis Moralis and Byzantine hagiography with Constantinos Georgopoulos.  He had his first one-man show in Athens (1972).  Other solo and group exhibitions followed in Greece and abroad.  Since 1965 he teaches at the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic School of Athens.  His plain writing and use of colours and the abstract texture of his work add to his painting a clear and personal dialectic style.  He lives and works in Athens.
