  DIMITRIS SOULIOTIS (1966)

Born at Trikala (Thessaly), Dimitris Souliotis initially took painting lessons from Spiros Koursaris and Antonis Apergis (1982-1983).  Later on he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Athens (1985-1990) with Triantafyllos Patraskidis and Dimitris Mitaras.  With a French government scholarship he went to Paris where he studied painting with Vladimir Velicovic at the École des Beaux Arts (1992-1993) and etching at the workshop of  Jean Clerté in the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (1993-1995). He had his first one-man show in Athens (1991), but had, already since 1989, participated in group exhibitions.  Other solo and groups shows followed in Greece and France.  His work reflects a distorted expressionism with characteristic use of heavy colours.  He lives and works in Athens.
